3 Signs You May Be a Victim of Identity Theft

About Us

In our technologically advanced world, identity theft has become too common. Technology has made identity theft simpler, but thankfully prevention methods are improving in response. Even still, you are the best defense against your identity theft. When you are vigilant about safeguarding your personal information and monitoring your money, your chances for identity theft will be minimized. The team at Fricke & Associates, LLC recommends looking out for the following red flags:

1. Unexpected Charges and Withdrawals—When you are monitoring your finances carefully, you should be able to notice these discrepancies. Whether it is withdrawal from your bank account, a charge on your credit card, or a debt collection on a debt you do not have, be suspicious of unfamiliar activity and act quickly. Being proactive by regularly monitoring your finances will enable you to address an issue as fast as possible.

2. Missing Mail—If you notice bills are no longer coming as predicted, your mail and identity might have been compromised. When your anticipated bills do not show up, call the company to ensure all is well. Ideally in this situation, the company decided to start going paperless on billing and your information is still secure.

3. Medical Issues—This symptom of identity theft could show up in a couple ways. First, you could receive bills for services you did not use. Another way would be denied coverage on services because your benefits have been reached. If you have been billed improperly or denied coverage, contact your insurance company to clarify the situation immediately.

Keep a close eye on your personal information so your identity, finances, and medical coverage will not be impacted. We are standing by to support you and offer advice for your next steps if you are concerned that your identity may have been compromised. Call Fricke & Associates, LLC for help!
